Automated Product Development for Multiple Design Variants with FIT

Efficient product development requires an automated process. However, an individual design is usually regarded as proof of excellence. Together with our partner FIT, who is a specialist in additive manufacturing, we demonstrated how both demands can easily be met.

Thus, we used the development of a table as an example to create a fully automated product development. First, the engineer determines various parameters. These include in this case, the load on the table as well as materials such as aluminium, titanium or carbon. The process can be combined with traditional manufacturing processes as well as with industrial 3D printing. Once the basic principles have been defined, the developer holds the “technical DNA” of the product. On this basis, our design algorithms generate several design variants for the developer.

The developer has the desicion: Is a simple and cost-effective model preferred – or a high-tech product made of high-quality materials and manufactured using innovative production processes? The developer maintains all freedoms – the software supports the engineer and accelerates the entire development process. Once a technical DNA is set up, different design variants can be automatically generated – and for this, the design does not have to be started from scratch every time. Our software calculates and evaluates the results within seconds. The developer decides which design fits best.
